Batman–Superman Confrontation

The Batman–Superman Confrontation, also known as the Battle of Gotham, is the climactic conflict between Bruce Wayne / Batman and Clark Kent / Superman. It brings the book’s central argument about vigilantism, state power, technological force, and moral authority into physical form: Bruce Wayne / Batman must confront an opponent whose abilities dwarf those of any ordinary human, while Clark Kent / Superman acts as the enforcement arm of a government that has come to regard Batman’s independent intervention as intolerable. The battle’s decisive outcome is therefore political as much as physical. Bruce Wayne / Batman appears to die, but the apparent death is a calculated deception that preserves his cause and prepares a hidden continuation of his work.
